Source data were collected primarily from the American Automobile Labeling Act, which requires automakers to report the location of final assembly for all light-duty vehicles (that is, vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 10,000 pounds). Heavy-duty pickup trucks, low-sales exotics, and commercial and government fleet vehicles aren’t included there, so we’ve attempted to fill in gaps where pertinent and possible.
