Sub-Zero Group Inc. plans to expand its manufacturing operations in Cedar Rapids, adding capacity and jobs at its appliance production facility.
The $196 million project will add about 230,000 square feet to the company’s existing 600,000-square-foot plant on the city’s southwest side. The expansion is expected to create 312 jobs, bringing total employment at the site to more than 500.
Sub-Zero, based in Madison, Wis., manufactures premium kitchen appliances under the Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove brands.
The company said the expansion will increase production capacity while integrating additional advanced manufacturing technologies into the facility.
“This expansion reflects our long-term commitment to the community, our confidence in the local workforce and our focus on building high-quality manufacturing capabilities that support Sub-Zero’s growth for decades to come,” said Scott Wareing, senior vice president of operations and product design.
