Sen. Stabenow Pitches Bill to Boost American Manufacturing Competition

It may seem obvious but it apparently is not. When federal government agencies need to make a purchase, one would assume they would buy American. That was the point of the 1933 Buy American Act. Like many government entities, there were loopholes and exemptions, leading to $92 billion spent on foreign made products.
