San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS), which was created by Terry Armstrong and Lew Hayden, is reporting that the company has been has been awarded a new three-year contract with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to manufacture athletic footwear for members of the U.S. military. The firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract is said to have a maximum value of $98.01 million.
The company said the contract was awarded following a competitive acquisition conducted by DLA Troop Support. The contract has no option periods and has a performance completion date of September 16, 2029.
“Under the contract, SAS will ensure service members are provided with American-made footwear that meets their training needs,” the company detailed in a media release. “Every United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard recruit attending basic training is provided per the Berry Amendment an American-made athletic trainer. The new award continues SAS’s longstanding relationship with the Defense Logistics Agency and its commitment to manufacturing specialized athletic footwear for America’s warfighters.”
SAS shoes are manufactured in the U.S., including the Mission 1 athletic trainer which will be supplied to military recruits.
