I am very disappointed to hear about the MTA’s plan to give away $235.7 million to China to repair the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge over the Hudson River.
Instead of sending this money to China, purchasing 15,000 tons of steel from the state-subsidized Anshan Iron and Steel Group, and hiring the China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group to complete fabrication, the MTA should be buying American products and employing people here in America.
The “buy American” clause was set in place to help our nation, and the MTA’s plan to get around it by using only toll dollars is incredibly disappointing.
Please do the right thing and cancel your plans to send $235.7 million to China, and invest in our own country instead.
