Despite its current financial woes, Nissan is pressing on, today announcing an agreement that will see its future EVs that are built in the United States use batteries that are built here too. The $661 million deal is with SK On, a global battery supplier and subsidiary of South Korea’s SK Group, which will provide about 100 GWh of batteries from 2028 to 2033.
The move comes as the Trump administration has proposed costly tariffs on vehicles and auto parts imported into the country, and the U.S. is currently Nissan’s top market when it comes to vehicle sales.
