FTC Tackles China Companies Lying About Origin

Dr. Moxa sells masks on Amazon. They say they are made in the U.S. They are not. They are made in China, according to the smart guys at Cultivate. The Federal Trade Commission has caught wind of all this and said this week that companies labeling their products falsely as domestic goods will finally be subject to fines. Every violation will be subject to civil penalties of as much as $43,280, the FTC said in a statement on July 1. The new rule requires marketers of Made in the U.S.A. labels to prove that their products are “all or virtually all” made here.
