U.S. Sen. John Fetterman said Wednesday that urging a key Senate committee to block the sale of U.S. Steel to a Japanese company is a “first shot” in fighting the acquisition. “Steel is security,” he told PennLive, “national security, economic security for the union workers and for our communities as well.”
Fetterman said everything is on the table — from legislative to regulatory remedies — in trying to block the deal.
“Anything. Whatever works,” he said. “Whatever tools are in the box I’m going to try any one of them.”
