Rolls-Royce Invests $75 Million in South Carolina Plant

Rolls-Royce is investing $75 million to expand its Aiken, South Carolina, plant, to boost production of its mtu Series 4000 engines with new in-country machining capabilities. The expansion will create 60 new jobs, bringing the total workforce at the facility to 434. This move is part of a broader $100 million U.S. investment, including a previously announced $24 million expansion in Mankato, Minnesota, which added 100 jobs.

The investments respond to growing demand for mission-critical backup power, especially from the booming data center industry. The Aiken plant will shift more component machining from Germany to the U.S., reducing lead times and improving supply chain resilience. Construction begins in early 2026, with production set for mid-2027.
