Kwik-Kut manufacturing celebrates a century of American-made food choppers

 For over a century, Kwik-Kut Manufacturing has made one thing and made it well. From its small production facility in Mohawk, the company has been churning out durable, American-made food choppers, quietly defying the odds through economic shifts and the rise of big-box retailers. The design is so timeless that owner Mary Morse has seen Kwik-Kut choppers mislabeled as 19th-century relics in antique stores. “I laugh because I know they probably came off the assembly line last year,” she said.

Family-owned for more than half its existence, Kwik-Kut is headed by Morse, who purchased the business from her father, John Fitzer, in 1982. Fitzer acquired the business from its original owners, William and Dorothy Carter, in 1966.
