Guardian Bikes, the Seymour-based direct-to-consumer kids’ bike brand, has announced a $19 million financing with JPMorganChase to launch what it says is the first large-scale bicycle frame manufacturing operation in the United States.
The new facility — located in Guardian’s advanced manufacturing hub in Seymour, Indiana — represents an effort to reshore an industry that has been nearly entirely offshored for decades.
“This collaboration with JPMorganChase is helping launch a new era of American high-tech manufacturing and working-class job creation,” said Brian Riley, CEO of Guardian Bikes in a press release. “We’re not just building bikes — we’re rebuilding an industry. And we’re doing it with cutting-edge automation, good-paying local jobs, and an unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and resilience.”
Guardian Bikes produces an array of children’s bicycles and employs around 250 people in its entirety, most of them in Indiana. Its expansion in Seymour is projected to create 80 jobs for engineering, support, advanced manufacturing and automation roles.
